VALLEJO, Calif. — The Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) will host two additional town halls in October to continue engaging the community around the district’s school closure and consolidation process. Following the first meeting in September, VCUSD is adding a third session specifically for Spanish-speaking families to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all members of the Vallejo community.

The second Closure and Consolidation Town Hall will take place on Monday, Oct. 20, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Vallejo High School Auditorium (840 Nebraska Street). Families and community members are encouraged to attend and ask questions, as well as share feedback directly with district leadership.

In response to community input, VCUSD will also host a third town hall, conducted entirely in Spanish, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be held online only to facilitate easier participation for Spanish-speaking families. Interpretation support continues to be available at all in-person sessions.

A final town hall is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Family Support Center Gym (2833 Tennessee St.) as the district works toward final recommendations later this year.

All town halls will be livestreamed on the VCUSD YouTube channel, and recordings will be posted afterward for those unable to attend.

Spanish language and American Sign Language interpretation will be available at the Oct. 20 and Nov. 18 town hall meetings.

“These meetings are an important opportunity for us to listen, share accurate information, and work together on solutions,” VCUSD Superintendent Rubén Aurelio said. “We want every family to have access to this process, which is why adding a dedicated Spanish-language town hall is so important.”

The VCUSD Board of Education has committed to making closure or consolidation and staff reduction  decisions by December 2025, with changes taking effect in the 2026–27 school year.

Community members needing accommodations should contact communicationsoffice@vcusd.org as soon as possible. For updates on meeting locations and additional information, please visit VCUSD’s closure and consolidation webpage.
